Donovan Data Systems HQ wins award at House of Commons ceremony

Donovan Data Systems has been presented with a National Green Plaque in recognition of its project at The Blue Fin Building, London.

The plaque was presented by The Green Organisation at the annual international awards ceremony at the House of Commons on Monday 10 November.

The National Green Plaque Awards are presented annually in recognition of companies, councils and communities carrying out projects that enhance the built environment and have their project included in the National Treasures guide.

The judges commented: 'Impact is the keyword in this office. The architect has created a workspace which promotes communication to the highest levels. Use of recycled glass in the floor and recycled phone boxes in the caf?? are unusual but effective environmental benefits.'

The award-winning project is featured in the current National Treasures guide after winning a Green Apple Built Environment Award at The Tower of London earlier this year.

The Green Apple Awards for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage campaign is run by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-profit organisation that recognises, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world.

Their supporters include SAVE Britain's Heritage, the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and various other professional bodies.

Campaign Manager Mark Wolens commented: 'Building projects generally are struggling at the moment, but this project shows how careful development is planning for the future.

'To then go further and become Green Plaque winners is an even bolder statement of intent, and organisations that go the extra mile demonstrate a serious commitment to the world around them. They invest in a better future for us all and deserve to be recognised for their efforts.'
